Volunteering as a teacher has given Janet a new purpose
Mosaic Middle East is a Christian charity working across ethnic and religious divides. Our work is rooted in local communities there. We are also known as The Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East.

We empower refugees and other vulnerable groups as a Christian relief and development organisation. One of our strengths is that we are deeply involved with communities in the Middle East. We listen a lot.
And then we respond.
Our listening and our years of experience on the ground in Iraq and Jordan has led us to develop the following strategic vision. Our mission is to bring hope, help and healing in the Middle East.
Together with our donors and supporters we are expressing Christian compassion to some of the most vulnerable people in our world. In doing so we echo the words of the Apostle Paul “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” (1 Corinthians 13:13)
Our network of Olive Tree Centres in Jordan support hundreds of refugees with a range of humanitarian, educational, therapeutic, empowerment and vocational programmes. Our centres are run in partnership with local churches and a local Christian NGO, to offer hope, help and healing for refugees in a country that has the second largest refugee population, per capita, in the world.
Partnering with local Iraqi NGO’s we’ve already provided new business and job-creation projects on the Nineveh Plain. We have established around 50 businesses, with 98% of them are still trading. Many of the businesses have grown and taken on more staff, therefore benefitting the local economy and lifting more families out of poverty.
Refugees often find themselves in a state of limbo, unable to find a sustainable future for themselves and their families. We are developing a pioneering new programme to advocate for their needs, including healthcare, education and applications for asylum in other countries.

Our people bring together a small UK staff team, experienced colleagues and partners in the Middle East, committed trustees, and generous patrons who share Mosaic’s vision for hope, help and healing across the region. Together, they provide the governance, expertise, relationships and practical support that enable Mosaic to work through trusted local partnerships and respond with care, integrity and long-term commitment.
Mosaic’s small staff team includes UK-based colleagues and team members in the Middle East, working closely together to support locally led programmes, partnerships and operations across the region.
Mosaic is also supported by a group of patrons who lend their expertise, encouragement and public support to help champion our work and mission.
Mosaic is governed by a dedicated Board of Trustees, all of whom give their time voluntarily to provide strategic oversight, accountability and support for the organisation’s work.
