The Project
The factory has been equipped with all the necessary tools (soap cutters, barrels, production line equipment, a professional printing device for the packaging and much else). The factory has been restored, increasing production, and providing job opportunities in this part of the Nineveh Plain.

The Bashiqa area was famous for its olive oil products, Raki (a sweet, aniseed drink) and olive oil soap. Many ancient olive groves were deliberately destroyed by ISIS as a way of systematically eradicating hope. Mosaic Middle East are delighted to work with local partners to revive this industry and restore a positive future for the whole community.  The residents of the area are a mixture of Yazidis, Assyrian Christians, Shabaks and Arab Muslims.
Goals
  • To increase the production capacity of the factory
  • To employ more people (7 youths initially) at the factory
  • To encourage more Internally Displaced People to return
  • To help revive the local economy
