Meet Reem, an Iraqi refugee who has found new hope through at Mosaic's Olive Tree House in Ashrefieh
"My life was completely changed"
Reem is a 45-year old Iraqi refugee woman living in Ashrefieh, Amman. After her husband was killed, she had to flee her home with her two young children under difficult and dangerous conditions.
Alone and in an unfamiliar country, not only was Reem unable to meet the basic needs of her children, but she was also struggling to deal with the trauma she had suffered. Then, she met a member of the Olive Tree House Voluntary Team, who invited her to the centre. Here she received training and counselling as part of the psycho-social support meetings and has gone on to join the Voluntary Team herself.
Through the support she found at the Olive Tree House, Reem says that she has built new friendships and grown in self-confidence. She is determined that her children will be able to continue with their education and that she will be able to build a safe and secure future for them.
