Live Appeal St. George's in Baghdad urgently needs your support
War across the region has put the congregation under increased danger. They risk difficult and exhausting journeys simply to get to church. Yet amidst the fear, division and uncertainty, Christians, Yazidis and other faiths gather to pray for peace across Iraq and the Middle East.
Please support our urgent appeal to provide food parcels for struggling families and to sustain the Medical Centre, so that this ministry of hope, healing and refuge can continue.
Rev'd Canon Jirjees described how the people in Iraq feel under pressure from every direction: "...from Iran, from Israel targeting militias, and, in a sense from within, by some Iraqi militias..." As rockets and drones strike civilian areas.
Yet within St. George's families find something precious: a place of belonging and shared hope. They stand as a small but are a powerful witness to hope, reconciliation, and resilient community life in Iraq.
Years of war, persecution and economic hardship has driven over a million Christians to flee Iraq. For the 150K who remain, they face daily discrimination as they struggle to find work, access education, or to afford the essentials.
Please pray for peace in Iraq and for the protection of the congregation of St. George's
Please donate to our urgent appeal to provide food parcels and essential medical care for families in desperate need.
Thank you.
"For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." Matthew 18v20
