For children and young people across the Middle East, conflict and displacement have interrupted far more than where they live.
They have interrupted childhoods. Friendships. Routine. And, often, years of education.
This September, Mosaic’s Every Class Counts Appeal is raising funds for education programmes in Iraq and Jordan - from preschool provision for refugee children in Amman, to accelerated learning for Yazidi teenagers, and the urgent restoration of damaged schools in Sinjar.
Because every child deserves a safe place to learn, and every class can be a step towards a more hopeful future.

Education can change what comes next
For a child whose life has been shaped by conflict or displacement, a classroom can mean much more than lessons.
It can offer routine after years of uncertainty. A place to make friends and feel safe.A chance to recover learning that has been missed. And, perhaps most importantly, the opportunity to begin looking forward again.
Across Mosaic’s programmes, children and young people are at very different points in their education.
Some are entering a classroom for the first time. Some are trying to catch up after years of disrupted schooling. Others are returning home to communities where the schools themselves still need rebuilding.
Every one of those classes matters.

Three ways your support makes a difference
Start well
At our Olive Tree Centres in Amman, preschool and informal education give refugee children safe spaces in which to learn, play, make friends and develop confidence.
Catch up
Our Accelerated Education Programme gives Yazidi teenagers specialist teaching to recover learning lost during years of displacement and prepare for national examinations.
Rebuild
In Sinjar, Mosaic is helping restore damaged schools so that children returning home can learn in safe, welcoming classrooms within their own communities.
We cannot give back the years conflict has taken
For many of the children and young people we work alongside, education has already been interrupted for far too long.
